Seymour Cray was born in Chippewa Falls on September 8,1925. He graduated high school in 1943 before being picked for the world War 2 as a radio operator. Then he moved to the Pacific theatre when he worked on breaking Japanese naval codes. He returned to States where he got a B.Sc in electrical Engineering at the University of Minnesota.
In 1951 Cray joined The Engineering Research Associates in Saint Paul. He quickly became a expert on digital computer technology. After several years of development their first product was released in 1956 as the Cray-1. Then he built the CDC 3000 series After he built the CDC 6600 that is the first super computer he made. He died on October 15,1996.
